1933 – 1940

Ernie’s birth to his family’s move to the big city: Denver.

1941 – 1950

This page takes a look at Ernie’s childhood and his experience in the Denver housing projects. Ernie’s experience at Baker Junior High. It was also during this period that Ernie learned to fish off of Boyle’s Bridge near Fox Creek, Colorado. Ernie also started high school at Denver West High; Class of 1953.

1951 – 1960

This page contains memories of Ernie’s decision to drop out of high school and his enlistment in the US Navy during the Korean War. After Ernie was discharged from the Navy, he moved back to Denver. There he met and dated Elsie M. Trujillo who he married a short time later. In 1956, the marriage began the PADILLA FAMILY.

1961 – 1970 

The rest of the Padilla family are born.  The kids are growing up and all going to school. Ernie has his first heart attack.

1971 – 1980 

The Padilla family becomes a statistic: a divorce statistic. Some of the kids are now in college. Ernie gets remarried to Evie and they make a new start in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

1981 – 1990

Ernie carves out a nice life in New Mexico. The Padilla men begin making an annual trip to Platoro. The Padilla kids start graduating from college.

1990 – 2000 

Ernie’s daughter Mikki Padilla starts her modeling career. Mikki and Ernie take a trip to NYC for a modeling show. Ernie is a great pool player and enters the Senior Olympics. Ernie passes on April 26th…
