1934 – 1939
Elsie was born in Ortiz, Colorado. Eventually her family would move to Antonito.
1940 – 1949
Elsie’s childhood years. She picked peas since she was a young girl. Elsie knew she needed money to someday live out her dreams. So she started working early.
1950 – 1959
Elsie attends Antonito HS. She graduated top of her class inn 1953. Although she couldn’t attend college in a far away place, Elsie did graduate from Barnes Business College. After that she traveled and then went to work for Denver Housing Authority. She marries Ernest F. Padilla in 1956 and began the Padilla family. Ernie was born in 1957.
1960 – 1969
The rest of the Padilla kids would be born during the early 1960s. Elsie made childhood fun for the kids and her!
1970 – 1979
Elsie divorces Ernest F. in 1973. After that, she and her kids got bitten by the travel bug. Elsie took her kids to see the Pacific ocean and Disneyland. The next year she took them to the Atlantic ocean. Elsie begins buying property.
1980 – 1989
Elsie married Fred Machado in 1981. She would begin traveling the world during the 1980s and beyond. By the end of the decade, Elsie would have helped put all of her kids through college.
1990 – 1999
Elsie continued her world travels. She and Andy managed to visit all 50 states. They would begin traveling to continents. Elsie married Ralph Rizo in 1995. Elsie would retire from HUD.
2000 – 2009
Elsie was very active during her retirement. To her, every day was Saturday!
2010 – present …
Elsie moved into a senior community in Commerce City. But soon after, she moved in with Pete in Arvada.
