A Performance is the actual acting of the role a person has decided to present to a specific targeted audience. Again, think of a person’s performance as similar to an actor staging their role in a theater production. Hence, the saying, “Life as theater.” However, the “stage” on which our performances take place in ordinary everyday social circumstances is in the mundane social world we call everyday life.  

Keep in mind that performing a role is an on-going activity. People are continually performing different roles such as mother; daughter; sister; student; and club leader. In fact, most of a person’s daily activity involves performing for a specific audience.
